I absolutely love the study of the home and marriage! Some days we have to just keep everyone alive!
One of the reasons I started this website is to give women a place where they can feel refreshed.
I remember so many times when I was first married and had little babies to take care of 24/7, I would just feel desperate for information and encouragement. One of the greatest places I found encouragement was through my own personal time with the Lord in Bible and prayer, and also from reading other books from wise women who had already been where I had been. Many times I would find the encouragement I needed or that extra push I needed in the right direction.
I have five children, and I am not going to lie, some days you feel on top of the world and some days you feel like a failure.
I am not even going to act like it’s a bed of roses every day, but I do know that they are worth it.
They are worth the early mornings and late nights.

Some days, I manage to get up early in the morning, work out, and have my makeup on. Other days (like Spring Break when all the children are home) it’s afternoon and I am still in my pj’s working around the house wondering where the time has gone.

Just last night, I thought my toddler was finally asleep. She was on top of my white comforter with my makeup bag with pink lipstick all over her face and all over my bed! My husband sweetly reminded me that he just preached a message about overreacting. 🙂

I want to share a thought with you that the Lord gave me that seemed to just jump off the pages like never before. So, one thing about me is that I’m very driven, but I’m more of a visionary. One thing I have discovered about myself over the past year is that I’m more of an artist and a dreamer. I like to design and make things pretty. I have to force myself to believe that picking up the same things off the floor day after day is making my home a beautiful and peaceful place. I have to kind of trick my mind. 🙂
While I believe we need a vision for the future, and dream big dreams, some days I think it is a big goal if we can just make it through the day with the right attitude.
I was reading the story of Noah one day in Genesis 6:19-20 which says,
“And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female. Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.”
When I read this, I immediately laughed and thought about what a sense of humor God has. For whatever reason I must have been feeling down on myself. I think I read this at the beginning of the year. You know when you make all those New Year commitments.

Some days I have big goals, and I get to work towards those goals. Other days, if my children have full bellies, bathed, and have clean clothes I feel like, “Hey, I accomplished something!”

You know when we get to Heaven the Lord is going to say something like this, “You were faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over all.”
My husband is passionate too, and we both have many goals. Although, my greatest goal in life is to make sure my husband and have what they need. Some days I feel like I can give more, and some days I can’t. Some days I beat myself about not accomplishing more, because believe me I want to! You know that nagging list on your calendar and those reminder notices on your phone. We all have them.
On the other hand, when my life is over, if I met the needs of my husband and family, I think I will be at peace. Because I believe deep down that is my duty to keep them alive (and happy!:))!
I hope this thought will encourage you, yes, to have goals, but do not become discouraged when you are in a season of having little ones and can’t do more.
Before a tree can grow tall and be fruitful, it must first spread its’ roots under ground.
Sometimes we have to dig deep before we can grow up!
“And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
Psalm 1:3
